For more than two decades, one Saturday in October has reliably drawn thousands of Plano residents to the same stretch of Downtown — and 2026 is no different. The 22nd Annual Plano International Festival takes place Saturday, October 17, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Haggard Park, 1021 E. 15th St., in Downtown Plano. Admission is free.
Organizers describe it as the largest and longest-running multicultural festival in North Texas, a claim built over two decades of consistent turnout and an expanding lineup of cultural programming. This year’s slate includes cultural booths, live performances, children’s activities, a wellness fair, and additional festivities spread across the afternoon.
The festival’s booth grid is where most attendees spend the bulk of their time. Community organizations, cultural groups, and local vendors set up across Haggard Park to share food, crafts, and traditions from countries and regions spanning every inhabited continent. Live performances — music, dance, and traditional arts — run throughout the six-hour window on dedicated stages.
If the performances follow the pattern of prior years, expect sets that span several continents and styles within a single afternoon, which is part of what distinguishes this event from a standard fall festival.
The children’s activity area gives families with younger kids a dedicated zone separate from the main crowd flow. Bringing a stroller or wagon is a practical call given the size of Haggard Park and the volume of ground to cover.
A wellness fair runs alongside the cultural programming, offering residents a chance to connect with local health and wellness organizations in a low-pressure outdoor setting.
The festival does not arrive cold. On Thursday, October 9, at 7 p.m., the Plano International Festival partners with Plano Arts to host Global Grooves: Latin America at McCall Plaza in Downtown Plano. The free, family-friendly evening spotlights the music, dance, and traditions of Latin America and functions as an early preview of the multicultural spirit that defines the main festival eight days later.
Attendees who plan to attend both events will want to note that McCall Plaza and Haggard Park are both in the Downtown Plano core, making the two easy to pair with a visit to the surrounding shops and restaurants on either date.

Parking in Downtown Plano on a Saturday afternoon fills up around the DART station and the surrounding surface lots, particularly for a draw of this scale. The Downtown Plano DART Rail Station on the Red Line is a reliable alternative for residents commuting from elsewhere in the city or from surrounding suburbs. Factoring in transit time from the station to the park entrance keeps the walk under five minutes.
Dress for mid-October Plano weather, which can run anywhere from genuinely mild to still-warm depending on the year. Comfortable walking shoes are the practical choice given six hours of potential time on grass and pavement.
October 17 is a notably busy Saturday in Plano. The Friends of the Farmstead Fundraiser at Heritage Farmstead Museum also takes place that evening, and the Plano Farmers Market at Berkeley Square — running every Saturday from August 29 through October 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. — wraps its final weekend of the 2026 season the same morning. Residents who want to hit all three can reasonably do so: the Farmers Market closes at 2 p.m., the International Festival runs through 5 p.m., and the Farmstead fundraiser picks up in the evening.
For a single day of free, locally grounded activity, October 17 stacks up as one of the stronger options on the fall calendar.
